Once again we were delighted to sponsor the Stepping Stones to Success League, at Wexford Equestrian. The league offers the perfect platform for owners, trainers, breeders and riders of 4 & 5-year-olds to produce, present and train their future eventers in the correct way. Any horse with the potential to become a world class event horse is welcome to join the league, using it as a 'stepping stone to success'. "It’s a brilliant event for us at Childeric Saddles - Ireland, to meet up with some of our current riders and make sure they are all set up for the season ahead. We also get to see their young horses who we may not have seen before to ensure the saddles are fitting" confirmed Elliott Reeves. The aim of the series is to identify athletic, loose moving horses, with promising jumping technique, without too much over production at a young age. The 2022 series was dominated by our clients, with success across the whole series, and leaderboard, in both the 4-year-old and 5-year-old class. Childeric rider Luke Drea took top honours, by a 9 point margin, in the 4-year-old class with Quality by Quantum Sian Coleman customer took the overall 5-Year-Old title with Kate Jarvey's homebred - Diamond Mistress. "I was looking for a nice way to start her 5yo season. I think they (the Stepping Stones League) are a great way to get relaxation in the dressage boards and to consolidate the jumping phases" commented Sian. "I was very impressed with the venue, I hadn't been before and it was really well run with a top class facilities, judges and a lovely calm environment for young horses to learn their job. Both the horses I campaigned in the league have come on so much. Diva is heading to Chatsworth, England, next for the Burghley Young Event Horse qualifier then she will have a little holiday before running in a few more national Eventing classes in the autumn." Supporting the young horse series was an obvious choice for the Childeric team, with a synergy between the league and the Young Horse Promise. "Being at all of the stepping stones qualifiers has been so nice to meet lots of new faces and horses," said Elliott. "From just giving advice about saddles and what to look for, to booking appointments to have themselves and their horses fitted for a new saddle. Our Young Horse Promise program ties in so well with Stepping Stones. We are so mindful of the importance of correctly fitting saddles for young horses. As they develop and grow (which they do!) we offer free refits until the end of their 6th year when you have purchased a new saddle, along with other benefits." Comments are closed.
